Guests can enjoy a warm and welcoming atmosphere throughout the building, which retains original beams and exposed brickwork, giving the pub and restaurant a charming period character.

Had our company Christmas party, it's a bit cosy, only 1 bar, so can get busy. Very few parking spaces, and not much off road.

Stopped in for lunch after viewing properties in the area. Very good first impressions of what could be our local. Lots on the menu. I had the veggie burger which was large and tasty. My partner had the Angus and mac burger which he also enjoyed. It was a quiet lunchtime service so our burgers arrived very quick after ordering. Nice well cooked chips. Lovely outdoor seating area with shade options and very clean. Will return for sure even if we don't buy a house in the village.

Me and the husband booked a couple of nights for looking around the local area for relocation. What an absolute gem! Gorgeous old building, lovely period features, 'The Snug' is the prettiest dining area but the restaurant and bar are also warm and welcoming. The weather was fairly rubbish (it's December) but walking into a warm and friendly pub after a long walk is almost like a hug. The food - it's 5*. We had 2 breakfasts and 2 evening meals. Lovely local suppliers, the bacon and sausages for breakfast were beautiful. I had sausages again for dinner with mash and a Yorkie, he had the Blacksmith burger, both faultless. Second night, I had Mac and cheese, he had the sirloin steak. Honestly, so tasty and generously portioned. One complaint- he said he's leaving me to marry whoever cooked his steak! High praise indeed. Looking forward to another visit when we move that way. Thanks to the whole team, you all work incredibly hard and it shows.

Happy to go back and try out more, 50 mins from home.

I stayed at The Anvil Inn during a recent work trip and overall had a positive experience. I booked a twin room which was fairly basic but perfectly adequate for the purpose of my stay. While the room didn’t have much of a view and was a bit warm, it was clean and comfortable enough for a short visit. What really stood out was the service — the staff were absolutely excellent. Everyone I encountered was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful, which made a big difference after a long workday. The highlight, though, was the food. I’m a fairly picky eater, and I was really impressed by the flexibility of the kitchen. I ordered a meal that came with coleslaw and mac and cheese, which aren’t my favorites, and without me even asking, the staff swapped them out for extra garlic bread. It was a small touch, but it made a big impression and showed real attentiveness to the guest experience. Would definitely recommend The Anvil Inn to anyone looking for a friendly place with great food and service

Second stop here (last back in August) whilst we waited for the car to charge. Lovely place and very friendly staff. On both occasions we have just had tea and cake but the food being sent to the tables looks very nice indeed.
